Skid row is down and dreary, the sun often hiding behind the clouds-until a strange plant starts to change Seymour's fortunes. Things take a comic book, Dick Tracy-esque turn as the plant demands more and more blood, but Seymour's fortunes have taken such a turn for the better, the sun is shining brighter and brighter, that he can't bring himself to do the right thing and kill the plant, until the comic book sci-fi fantasy is snowballing out of control.
